About us

Solar energy also known as solar power is simply the energy that comes from the sun and is used to create heat or electricity.  Not only is it a clean or green energy, as it is starting to be called, it is also a reliable source of renewable energy.

The Difference Between Renewable And Non-Renewable Energy
Renewable energy isn’t depleted with use whereas non-renewable energy is.  The Texas Renewable Energy Industry Alliance (TREIA) defines renewable energy as “any energy resource that is naturally regenerated over a short time scale and derived directly from the sun (such as thermal, photochemical, and photoelectric), indirectly from the sun (such as wind, hydropower, and photosynthetic energy stored in biomass), or from other natural movements and mechanisms of the environment (such as geothermal and tidal energy). Renewable energy does not include energy resources derived from fossil fuels, waste products from fossil sources or waste products from inorganic sources.”National Geographic defines non-renewable energy as coming “from sources that will run out or will not be replenished in our lifetimes—or even in many, many lifetimes.  Most non-renewable energy sources are fossil fuels: coal, petroleum, and natural gas. Carbon is the main element in fossil fuels.”

Renewable energy sources are by far the most environmental friendly source of energy.  However, they are not completely without risk of harm to the environment due to things such as land use, loss of animal habitats and wildlife, the use of water, and the types of materials used in manufacturing.  In some instances non-renewable energy is more convenient, easier to obtain, and easier to transportthan renewable energy sources but it is not environmentally friendly. In fact, utilizing non-renewable energy sources are very hazardous to our environment.  According to National Geographic when fossil fuels such as coal and oil are burned particles are released into the air that upset the natural carbon dioxide balance of the earth and causes the earth’s atmosphere to retain heat.  Earth’s temperatures are rising so quickly it is difficult for living organisms to adapt to the change. Although renewable energy sources do effect the environment in some ways there use doesn’t affect the carbon dioxide balance as non-renewable energy sources do.

sdsWhy Transition From Non-Renewable Energy Sources To Renewable Energy Sources?
This is an age where there are so many more options than for previous generations. Renewable energy sources do not release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere like non-renewable energy sources do and therefore do not facilitate climate change as rapidly as non-renewable energy sources do.  Although, it may be difficult to eradicate the use of fossil fuels altogether using renewable energy sources such as solar energy reduces the need for them.  Over time this would not only be more economical in an already struggling economy but would be beneficial in healing the damage done to our environment by removing and utilizing the fossil fuels that have in the past been necessary for basic comfort, survival, and industrial development.  It is so nice to imagine a world in which our children and grandchildren don’t have the same environmental struggles and worries that we’ve had and still do such as air and water pollution.  This would also benefit our food supply because let’s face it every living and breathing thing needs air and water to survive and we would be naïve to believe that the quality of air and water doesn’t in some way effect every animal, plant, and person.
